Dr. Michaels grew up in Lexington, Illinois, and is a graduate from University High School in Normal. He joined Carle MCO in July 2019 as a board-certified anesthesiologist and fellowship-trained interventional pain management physician. He understands how chronic pain can affect nearly every aspect of a patient’s life, hindering them from doing the things they love like exercising, gardening, hiking, or simply playing with their kids or grandkids. Dr. Michaels is focused on relieving patients’ chronic pain using non-surgical, interventional techniques. He joins Dr. Naour in the interventional pain medicine program and is assisted by his nurse, Karla.
Before pursuing a career in medicine, he spent time writing comedy in New York City alongside writers who went on to write for Saturday Night Live, John Oliver, and Jimmy Fallon. He ultimately chose to work at Carle MCO because of the kind, caring, and hard-working team. Each person has a patient-first mindset and genuinely cares about the people they treat.
Outside of work at Carle MCO, Michaels still writes comedy for fun, particularly TV show pilots of the Sci-Fi/comedy genre. He is married to local dentist, Courtney Morgan-Michaels, DDS, and has a dog named Louie. Michaels is a family man and a die-hard Chicago sports fan who enjoys traveling to cities like New York City, Chicago, and San Diego.
