Treatment Plans for Active People
Carle McLean County Orthopedics' sports medicine specialist, Dr. Jonathan Aubry, participated in a radio interview broadcasted on WJBC. If you're looking for more information about Dr. Aubry's approach or treatment at Carle McLean County Orthopedics, continue reading as we discuss the typical steps.
Dr. Aubry quickly clarified to listeners that his treatment of athletes includes active people of any age. While he does work with student athletes from Illinois State University and the University of Illinois, he emphasized that he helps 5-year-olds and 85-year-olds alike, even if they don't play a sport.
As a non-operative sports doctor, he focuses on minimally invasive treatments including injections and physical therapy. To assist with diagnosis and examination, Dr. Aubry described the use of ultrasounds at Carle McLean County Orthopedics, which is something that distinguishes them from other care centers. According to Dr. Aubry, this technology can help to identify soft tissue injuries like muscular tears, better guide an injection, and provide immediate feedback to patients.
When active patients visit Dr. Aubry for an injury or ongoing pain, he first orders necessary imaging to quickly become familiar with the situation. Then, he performs a thorough physical examination, and based off his observations, will discuss a personalized approach satisfying the needs of the patient. To optimize the level of care received, he spends ample time with his patients to align their action plan with their goals.
"A lot of times we can keep most injuries and a lot of sports injuries here within our office and develop a good plan at that first office visit," stated Aubry.
