Carle McLean County Orthopedics expands surgery services to Eureka
Dr. Joseph A. Novotny has served his community with orthopedic surgery services for over twenty years. Specializing in shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, and knees, now, he expands his services outside of Bloomington/Normal to Eureka! He sat down with WJBC to discuss the transition and how he and his colleagues will be able to provide orthopedic surgery services to residents of Eureka.
With the winter season returning, patients are flocking to Carle McLean County Orthopedics to receive care before the end of the year. With Dr. Novotny and the other medical staff at your side, you'll never have to question your quality of care. Dr. Novotny guides us through the process of receiving care at Eureka.
"We'll be able to see you in the clinic and evaluate you, - obtain whatever tests we need to confirm your diagnosis – CT scans and MRIs that can be performed at the Eureka office, and once we come up with a diagnosis, Eureka has everything we need to complete that treatment plan, including physical therapy, rehabilitation, and both outpatients and inpatient surgical services."
Staff at Eureka have worked with Dr. Novotny over the past years, preparing and learning how to assist him most effectively at the Eureka location. He kicked off his service in Eureka at the Carle Eureka Hospital with a hip replacement procedure in December of 2021. With the swing bed program, which is a convenient way for patients to begin their healing process without the pains of being transferred to another hospital or floor, the patient was able to receive physical therapy right away in their hometown. Carle Eureka hospital also has everything they need to take care of you after surgery, including rehabilitation, physical therapy, and anything else you might need.
It can often be challenging to understand what exactly is going on with your body that needs surgery or therapy. Dr. Novotny talked about the process he uses to ensure patients are properly informed on what's happening.
"The best way to help patients is to keep it simple. I like to show pictures, pictures are worth a thousand words, and we pride ourselves in informing our patients as much as possible prior to coming up with the treatment plan."
